Last New Years’ Eve we hosted a Gatsby themed party at our house. It was a great night and one of my favorite parties we’ve ever hosted (moonshine brought by a friend may have contributed to that!). One of the decorations I put up was a free printable I found on C.R.A.F.T. I actually ended up leaving it up on my bulletin board most of the year because I thought it was such a good sentiment: “This Will Be The Best Year Yet.”
I love the idea that this year (and every year to come) will be the best year yet. Not because circumstances will be perfect or that life won’t be full of ups and downs, but because that if that’s your perspective, its hard not to have a great year and see the good throughout the highs and lows.
2014 was an incredibly good year for our family. It has flown by, the last few months especially. We travelled to the Bahamas, to Portland twice, to Vancouver BC, San Francisco and Sonoma. I started The Maker’s Table in May and hosted five great workshops with super talented friends. In August, I found out that I was pregnant with our third (and quickly realized that getting through the first trimester when you already have two small children is a lot harder!).
With first trimester fatigue and some big life changes coming soon, The Maker’s Table has been mostly on hold that past few months. I’m hoping to get back into the swing of things in 2015—and catch up on some belated blogging that I should have posted months ago (sorry to everyone who came to the bacon and floral crown workshops and still haven’t seen pictures!). Hopefully, that will look like a lot more activity here on the blog and some more workshops coming up—but more like one every 2-3 months instead of every month like last summer.
Here are some things coming up that you’ll be seeing more of:
- We’re moving! When we moved in, my husband Jonathan and I told all of our friends that we would never move again as long as we lived in Oklahoma City. This was our “forever home.” I guess you should never say never because a few weeks ago—almost three years to the day we first saw our house—I stuck a “For Sale” sign in our front yard. We have an idea of where our next “forever home” will be, but in the meantime, we will be downsizing, simplifying, and renting an apartment downtown.
- Downsizing = moving sale! It’s amazing how much we’ve accumulated over the past three years in our big house. Since I don’t have a desire to store a ton of furniture and stuff for the foreseeable future, we hoping to sell most of our furniture, either with the house to the new owners or at a big moving sale coming sometime in January.
- Baby No. 3 is coming this spring. Lena is thrilled to have a baby sister and tells me frequently that she can’t wait to meet Baby Sophie. Judah is in blissful ignorance of the fact that he’s going to be outnumbered and is losing his status as the family’s baby. But I think he’s going to be a wonderful big brother. We’re excited to add to our precious bunch!
So, here’s to the best year yet in 2015. May your year be blessed and filled with joy. Cheers!
